Just in case you were wondering, I thought I would include some information about myself that you might find interesting.
I have been teaching for 18 years! Yes, I'm old! I received a degree in K-12 Music Education from the University of Southern Colorado. One week later I was married to Todd (Albrecht, of course) and soon after began teaching elementary music in the Pueblo City Schools. My husband received his job teaching vocal music at Canon City High School where he has been ever since. Mr. A was much happier teaching here in Canon than Mrs. A was teaching in Pueblo, and after 4 (LONG) years, I was offered my job here at McKinley. That very first year here--14 years ago, I became pregnant with my son Alex. Two years later I had my daughter, Sadie. During that time, I received my first Master's Degree from Adams State College in Elementary Education. I loved teaching music but always was interested in teaching regular education, and so I was fortunate to move into the classroom teaching 6th grade 5 years ago. I have since taught 4th grade and finally settled into 5th grade where I plan to die!:-). Last year, I earned my second Master's Degree--this time in Curriculum and Instruction--also from Adams State College.
Although being a wife, mother and teacher is my life, I also have a passion for gardening. If I could have two careers at once, I would be a teacher/horticulurist. My summer is spent outside in my backyard perennial garden and here at our garden at school. I also direct an English Handbell choir at my church (First United Methodist), sing in the church choir, and love dachshunds (we have two most adorable ones).
